What is expected of branded learning centres?
Once you have achieved branded learning centre status for your centre you need to ensure that you continue to meet the pledge to learners and the essential requirements which are set out by learndirect scotland. It is also important that you try to ensure that the suggested requirements are followed by your centre in providing quality provision for learners.
What are the essential requirements?
- Complete and return the Self Assessment Checklist annually to demonstrate that the pledge to learners is being adhered to.
- A centre profile must be completed submitted on annual basis.
- The Self Assessment Checklist must be supported by and Evidence File (which should be held at the centre and should be available for spot checks audits by learndirect scotland at any time).
- List courses that are offered at the centre on the national learning opportunities database (NLOD).
- Provide statistics as learndirect scotland has to supply this information to the Scottish Executive.
Suggested requirements:
- Representation and attendance at events, e.g Networking for Success Events, Masterclasses, Learning Centre Operations Groups, Annual Conference.
- Responsibility for induction for new centre staff related to the learndirect scotland and branded learning centre status.
- Staff should undertake the Professional Development Award (PDA) in Learning Centre Operations or equivalent.
What happens if I don't meet the essential requirements?
If you do not meet the essential requirements and do not take advantage of the two offers of support which learndirect scotland can provide, the brand will be removed from the centre. This is essential to both protect and enhance the learndirect scotland brand.
