Battle of the Bands

More than 500 young people from Skye and Lochalsh proved that there is more to the Highland music scene than pipes and ceilidhs when the first ‘Battle of the Bands’ took place recently.

Alex Macleod from Portree Learning Centre hosted the music event which was aimed specifically for young people aged 14 to 25.

Held in Portree, this was the first ‘Battle of the Bands was organised by the local Drug and Alcohol Forum. It featured the very best of young musical talent in the area, with nine local rock bands taking part.  ‘

'Exit’ (pictured) won the £1,000 prize money which will be put towards buying new equipment and recording costs.

‘Battle of the Bands’ was supported by the Skye & Lochalsh Learning Centre Network, Highland Council and the Drink Aware Trust.
