A pack to support the learning needs of people involved in regeneration is to be launched by the Scottish Centre for Regeneration in partnership with learndirect scotland for business at in November.
The Learning in Regeneration pack allows people to identify the skills they require to regenerate communities, their subsequent training needs and ways of meeting these needs. It highlights the benefits of using the pack, and covers the help available to support its effective use across Scotland.
It was developed by The Scottish Centre for Regeneration – part of Communities Scotland - after nine months of trials and follows research by the University of Glasgow, which identified 22 skills required by people working at various levels and in various roles in community regeneration.
The pack encourages a long-term commitment to learning from individuals and their organisations and has been tested in organisations across Scotland, ranging from voluntary and housing organisations to community planning partnerships.
Frank Pignatelli CBE, chief executive of learndirect scotland, said: “learndirect scotland is committed to working in partnership with The Scottish Centre for Regeneration to ensure that individuals and organisations working in regeneration are given the level of support their hard work deserves.
“Training and development must play an integral role in any regeneration strategy and this skills pack has been designed to ensure that everyone involved in community regeneration has the additional knowledge and skills required to work together as effectively as possible.”
Craig McLaren, director of the Scottish Centre for Regeneration said: “I have no doubt that this pack will prove to be invaluable to people and organisations regenerating communities.
“Having the right skills is an issue which is all too often overlooked. The Learning in Regeneration pack and the support provided will give everyone in community regeneration the opportunity to identify and develop these skills. Given this I would urge anyone who is involved in regeneration to get their hands on a copy.”
