Learning for life

Castle Douglas learners

A presentation Castle Douglas IT Centre in Dumfries and Galloway  marked the achievements of learners throughout the Stewartry.

A learndirect scotland branded learning centre, the IT Centre offers computer training to a many people, from learners needing skills to find work to those simply wishing to keep in touch with family and friends through e-mail.

Learners can access the centre on a drop-in basis morning, afternoon or evening and funding is available to help with the costs of learning.

“It is important learners get rewarded for their achievements, so receiving a certificate does just that, “ said Bernard Wilkin centre co-ordinator.

“The IT Centre is more than just a computer training facility,” explained development officer Pauline Bell,  “We work closely with learndirect scotland, which enables us to deliver a range of e-learning where you access courses online with a broadband internet connection. This means you can study from home, the office or from wherever you want.  We have more than 20 people studying in this way. It’s not just in computing, we can offer courses in business skills, like finance and communication to sector skills, like construction and engineering.”
